Glucosamine HCl
Glucosamine is an amino-sugar that is naturally produced in humans. It is the key building block in the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans, hyaluronic acid and proteoglycans. These substances are the foundation of many of the body's tissues including tendons, ligaments, cartilage, collagen, basement membranes, mucous membranes of the digestive system, membranes in the respiratory tract and synovial fluid in the joints. Proteoglycans are proteins that make up the connective tissue of cartilage giving joints their elasticity, strength, and resilience.
Chondroitin
Chondroitin sulfate (CS) is found naturally in the body and is one of the critical compounds in connective tissue which are responsible for building and supporting the substance of cartilage found in joints and elsewhere. CS is also found in the walls of blood vessels. Because CS attracts water, it is an important factor in keeping cartilage fluid and elastic; these are important features of healthy joints. With aging, the water content of cartilage decreases, causing problems in joint mobility. Acute traumatic injury, arthritis, malnutrition, and other conditions can also damage cartilage. CS is a nutritional supplement that provides support for strong, healthy cartilage and joints.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)is a natural form of organic sulfur that occurs in meats and plants including fruits and vegetables, and it is naturally produced in the human body. Although MSM occurs naturally in foods, even moderate food processing destroys most of it. It provides an important source of sulfur, which plants, animals and humans need for biochemical processes. As an anti-inflammatory agent, MSM reduces redness, heat, pain, swelling and the loss of function associated with inflamed tissues or body parts. In pain relief it is thought that MSM relieves pain via several mechanisms: it inhibits pain impulses along type C nerve fibers, reduces inflammation, which relieves pressure on nerves and tissues, promotes blood flow, which speeds up healing, and reduces muscle spasms.
Directions For Use
As a dietary supplement for adults and children twelve or more years of age, take one to three capsules per day or as directed by a qualified healthcare professional.
