Many of the risk factors that can lead to heart disease, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes can be prevented or controlled. So during Healthy Heart Month, we encourage everyone to join the fight against heart disease

For your convience we have compiled a list of “Heart Healthy” tips that are key in maintaining a healthy heart.

Exercise. Exercise can cut your risk of heart attack or disease in half. Exercise will also help you lower your blood pressure, reduce cholesterol, maintain a healthy body weight, and reduce your chances of contracting diabetes. In preparation of beginning an exercise program it is best to consult a physician; then find something you enjoy. There are many different types of exercise programs that you can do. From the gym to the comforts of your living room; from Pilates to Tae-Bo; the options are endless. Make exercise a part of your life, one to two times a week, for an hour may not cut it. You need to be more consistent to ensure that you are getting the best work out possible. You can even try different activities that give you a work out like walking, jogging, swimming, cycling, rowing, or cross country skiing.

Nutritional Supplements. Certain nutritional supplements may reduce the risk of heart disease, and are generally believed to be safe, and beneficial. Nutritional supplements generally associated with possible heart health benefits include the following. CoQ10, is a powerful antioxidant shown to play a role in the functioning of such things as the immune system and cardiovascular health. CoQ10 has been shown to significantly improve heart muscle function
without adverse effects or drug interactions. High in EPA and DHA for optimal cardiovascular health, Vinco’s Omega-3 Marine represents a breakthrough in fish oil supplementation. Utilizing a purity process that eliminates heavy metals and the “fishy” aftertaste, it will not cause gastric “repeating” and allows the natural lemon flavor to come through. One teaspoon provides 1650 mg of EFA’s. Vinco’s Omega 3-6-9 contains 1608 mg (3 capsules) of essential fatty acids or “Good Fats” from 3267 mg of fish, borage, flaxseed and olive oils. Essential Fatty Acids play a beneficial role in the immune system, cardiovascular health and pain management. Red Yeast Rice has been shown to promote blood circulation, soothe upset stomach, and invigorate the function of the spleen, a body organ that destroys old blood cells and filters foreign substances. More recently, Red Yeast Rice has been shown to contain substances which help maintain healthy levels of LDL. Vinco’s Red Yeast Rice is grown right here in the United States, in a clean room setting, follows U.S.P Standards, and is manufactured in FDA licensed and inspected laboratories with Good Manufacturing Practices. Vinco’s Red Yeast Rice is heavy metal, and coliform free. It is an organic, natural whole food supplement, that helps maintain healthy LDL levels.

Diet. Your diet plays a key role in achieving a healthy heart. There are two types of fat, “Good Fats”, and “Bad Fats”. The “Good Fats” include Olive Oil, Canola Oil, and other oils high in mono-unsaturated fat. The “Bad Fats”, which are bad for the heart, are saturated fats such as those found in meats and cheese. So try to avoid Bad Fats, and control your Good Fats. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables is also key. Antioxidants and other substances in these help to keep your heart healthy.

Stress and Anger. Anger is thought to increase your risk of heart disease, regardless of your “personality type”. Instead of getting angry and stressed-out over certain situations lean to deal with your anger. Try taking slow deep breaths to help you relax. Relaxation therapy can reduce levels of anger while deep breathing, biofeedback and yoga are also helpful. Vinco’s Stress Redux Plus is a product that helps keep your body’s stress response clear.
